  2. How do I print to a postscript printer from my browser?
  3. Where to I set the proxy settings within Firefox or Mozilla?
  4. We have a problem displaying text in flash presentations.
  5. We have created a web browser session and checked to Identify it as MS Internet Explorer.  When displaying our email page, the page partially loads but does not show the emails.  If we uncheck the Identify as MS Internet Explorer option, emails are displayed but new emails are no longer in bold font.

Printing from Firefox/Mozilla to deskjet 5xxx series but it won't print in color.

Open the browser, select print from the File menu, and then hit the properties button. Change "-sDEVICE=laserjet" to "-sDEVICE=cdjcolor". After doing this press OK and close the browser.  This is the color deskjet driver which should produce reasonable color prints.

**NOTE**  The browser only produces output in postscript.  Our thin clients use Ghostscript to convert the postscript to PCL and the quality may not be as expected.  To get the best quality, use a postscript printer.

How do I print to a postscript printer from my browser?

To print straight postscript from the browser, go to the Print dialog, hit properties button, and change the print command to 'lpr -P net' to print to a network printer or 'lpr -P lp' for a local printer.

As usual, any changes to the printer configuration will be saved when you exit the browser.

Where to I set the proxy settings within Firefox or Mozilla?

To set the proxy in Firefox you need to select Tools -> Options -> General -> Connection.

To set the Proxy in Mozilla you need to go to Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Proxies.

We have a problem displaying text in flash presentations.

The problem has nothing to do with either the firefox version or the flash version we are using. The problem is this -- version 7 of the flash player requires true type fonts. We don't have these embedded because they require space on the DOM  and we don't have the room.

You cannot use "Identify as MS Explorer" with many types of web mail sites. The content displayed by a site depends on what type of browser it thinks it is using.  As for new emails not in bold -- that is a Firefox issue - you may get better results by changing the font settings.
