How do I set up external link in BOSaNOVA TCP/IP?To enable the External Link:

1. Open the BOSaNOVA Emulation Configurator.
2. Select the Advanced Properties tab.
3. Select Mouse.
4. Ensure that Enable default right click actions is selected.
5. Click Advanced.
6. Select Enable External Link.

Note:
Enable External Link is disabled if Enable right click popup menu is cleared.

7. Optionally, customize the External Link.

Note:
By default, the selected file is opened with a program defined by Windows in accordance with the file extension. For example, Windows uses Notepad for *.txt files and Microsoft Paint for *.bmp files. If the text field that you clicked doesn't contain the complete file path, then Windows uses the current working directory to locate the file.

To change the default properties, complete the following text fields:

Start in
Specifies the current working directory. The BOSaNOVA installation directory is used as the default directory if the Start in box is blank. If you want to specify another working directory, browse to locate it.

Note:
A path containing the root folder only (for example, C:\) cannot be used as the working directory.

Type of file
Defines the file extension to be added to the selected text field to complete the file name. This field is ignored if the type of file is already specified in the selected text field of the display session.

Application

Note:
The Application field is available only if a file extension appears in the "Type of file" field.

Specifies the application that is associated with the file (for example, Microsoft Paint to open a file with a *.bmp extension) as long as the extension specified in the text field is the same as the extension defined in the Type of file box. Otherwise, the default is used .

8. Click OK.

I am getting garbage characters randomly on my screen in emulation.

Version must be 6.05 or higher - modify the shortcut target to contain a switch.  After the double quotes at the end, add a space followed by a forward slash and then in all CAPs and all together SLOWTEXTOUT - see example for TCP/IP below:

"C:\Program Files\BOS\BOSaNOVA TCP-IP" /SLOWTEXTOUT

 or

"C:\Program Files\BOS\BOSaNOVA Secure" /SLOWTEXTOUT

I am trying to install TCP/IP - Secure while use a Remote Desktop session but it creates multiple "Set" keys in the registry.

Scenario:

Customer uses RDP to connect to 16 different Metaframe servers and uses a roaming profile as well.  Each server he connects to after the first server, he receives a message that the installation already exists but it does not exist on that hard drive at all.  Secondly he takes the option of a new install and it creates multiple registry sets.

Resolution:

There is an option called MultiSet in the SETUP.INI file that is used especially for multiple Citrix servers. You need to copy all files from Win9XNT folder (WITHOUT SUB-FOLDERS) off of the BOS CD and change the SETUP.INI – set the MultiSet parameter to No.

The problem is that the BOSaNOVA registry set is recorded in the user profile and is moved together with the user from server to server. The BOSaNOVA Setup detects the Set 1 key and therefore creates a new Set. If the MultiSet is No, the Setup will always create Set 1.

Customer has a company license for BOSaNOVA Secure and every few days they get an SCL021 company license is not valid message.  TCP/IP is running on a Windows 2003 server and they are using XP with RDP to connect - if they all get off and then wait 5 minutes they can connect again without problems.  Why is this happening?

BOSaNOVA TCP/IP or BOSaNOVA Secure reads the BNTNLIC.BIN file to find the company license.  If this file is in exclusive use (for example, by an antivirus program), the BOSaNOVA program will be unable to read it and generates this message.

There is no way for us to avoid this problem, but knowledge of why this happens may be helpful.

Installed BOSaNOVA Secure and it is asking me for an activation code.

A new problem was discovered in Single User installation of BOSaNOVA Secure – after the installation the below dialog appears with request to enter Activation code. Until a new version is released, please use the attached DLL – copy it to BOSaNOVA Secure folder.

I am attempting to run a data transfer but I get an error followed by the system name being truncated to 8 characters in the profile.

This is a limitation of the program, the system name must be up to 8 letters for DTF

When using Morph Express the columns don't line up and it does not refresh itself correctly.

Please use the file BSMDEMUL below for BOSaNOVA TCP/IP and BOSaNOVA Secure as it contains the executable which fixes the issue with Morph (GUI).

To implement it:

1.       Close BOSaNOVA on the PC

2.       Unzip .rar attachment (BSMDEMUL inside) on the PC
