What is the difference between LPR and RAW printing?

LPR:

Short for line printer daemon/line printer remote, a printer protocol that uses TCP/IP to establish connections between printers and workstations on a network. The technology was developed originally for BSD UNIX and has since become the de facto cross-platform printing protocol.

The LPD software typically is stored in the printer or print server and the LPR software must be installed in the client device. The LPR client sends the print request to the IP address of the LPD printer/server, which in turn queues the file and prints it when the printer becomes available.

RAW:

RAW - Any data that has not been translated. It also refers to sending print data directly to a printer instead of translating it first to an EMF file. Printing to raw format uses less CPU power for translation, but skips the print spooler and makes printing more dependent on the application and less on the OS.

Is the Compumaster twinax card compatible with Vista?

YES. The Twinax Card is Vista compatible as long as you install the software as "administrator". On Vista the Administrator account is by default "disabled" so the customer must go into Computer Management and enable the "Administrator" user account, log-off and log-in as "Administrator". If the customer tries to install the card software with any user "apparently" running administrator rights, then it will fail to install the drivers. After card install the customer can disable again the "administrator" user account and use the card logged as standard user account.

NOTE:  The Compumaster card does NOT do DTF (data transfer).

I have a new iSeries and I cannot get my Advanced Server to work on it using DLC.

From IBM's Web information:

i5/OS does not have integrated support for SNA over Gigabit or 10 Gbps Ethernet. Enterprise Extender or AnyNet is required to run SNA over Gigabit or 10 Gbps Ethernet.

How do I set up a DTS (Data Transfer Scheduler) post application send utility?

To send a command to run automatically after the DTS completion, you must postfix @E after the command string

For   example post command - "ATK200A"

this operation swaps the Enter key in keyboard and  provides for execution of the command automatically.
