Product Review: BOStablet Portable Thin Client by Victor Wortman
BOSaNOVA's wireless tablets provide mobility, flexibility, and speed.
The integration of thin-client technology and wireless data communications has produced a winning combination for situations in which workers need information to execute their tasks but are required to move freely about their venues. This type of application not only represents a further maturation of client-server computing, but also takes advantage of two significant IT trends: First, tablet computers have reached the affordable "commodity" level, opening the door to wider exploitation and extension of their usefulness; and second, wireless networks, which for years floundered in a sea of IT management indifference, are becoming increasingly accepted components of the corporate datacom infrastructure. Product Review: BOSaNOVA Mobile by Joel Klebanoff
BOSaNOVA Mobile leverages the value of mobile devices through easy connections to iSeries data and applications.
Wireless devices, such as personal digital assistants (PDAs) and Windows-based, Web-enabled cell phones, are already popular, and that popularity is continuing to grow. In March 2006, to support this trend and to augment the value of mobile devices employed by organizations that use iSeries, BOSaNOVA launched BOSaNOVA Mobile, which enables mobile device users to easily access iSeries data and applications. Product Review: The BOSaNOVA Rabbit Thin Clientt by Joel Klebanoff
BOSaNOVA delivers a smaller, faster, cooler thin client.
When the time comes to replace green-screens or even older PCs that have reached the end of their useful lives, an increasing number of organizations are turning to thin clients as a low-cost, versatile alternative. In January of this year, Arizona-based BOSaNOVA, a leader in thin clients and network appliances for the iSeries market, announced the addition of the Rabbit to its thin client line. The headline of an ad that BOSaNOVA is running for the Rabbit offers a hint as to the derivation of the product's name by suggesting that the tortoise wins only in fairytales. More > >;

Choose the Right Thin Clients for your System i by Martin Pladgeman
In the beginning, thin-client terminals booted from a server, had very slow CPUs with small amounts of memory, and relied on application servers to provide needed features. It is no surprise that these early thin clients didn't take off because delivery was poor (high bandwidth requirements, low color support, no sound, etc.) and the application servers themselves didn't support applications very well. Product Review: BOSaNOVA Launcher/4000 by Joel Klebanoff
BOSaNOVA Launcher/400 seamlessly integrates iSeries with Windows PC and server environments.
Today, even in organizations that depend on iSeries as their primary information technology engine, the technology on users' desktops is increasingly PCs rather than green-screens. Furthermore, because of the prevalence of Microsoft Office, most users are more familiar with the applications in that suite than they are with any other software. iSeries/pSeries Convergence Plans a Thing of the Past, IBM Says by Mary Lou Roberts, Industry Reporter
Security for iSeries 5250 emulation is getting a closer examination as companies are becoming wise to the fact that a majority of security breaches are internal rather than external. To address this issue, Better On-line Solutions (BOS) has enhanced its 5250 Client software, BOSaNOVA TCP/IP, with the added security of 128-bit SSL Encryption, a centralized manager module, and single sign on. The new product is named BOSaNOVA Secure, however, existing BOSaNOVA TCP/IP users can also add the security features to their existing systems. More > >

BOS Adds Security Features to Emulation Products by Dan Burger
...«snip»
Joe Jepsen, business development manager for BOSaNOVA, comments, "I wasn't aware of the official position to abandon the platform merger plans. I'm sure there are reasons for not publicizing the change of focus, although I'm hard pressed to think of any at the present. As for the merge/not to merge argument, there is a case to be made for both. Our short- and mid-term tactical plans are largely unaffected by this particular decision, but it would be highly appreciated by me, and I'm sure many ISVs, to have some clarity of direction from IBM to facilitate our longer-term strategic planning." Products Announced at COMMON Support the Once and Future King of the Midrange by John Ghrist, Senior Products Editor
...«snip»
BOSaNOVA unveiled BOSaNOVA Secure, a single sign-on product that combines TN5250e Client, 128-bit SSL encryption, a management console, and single sign-on capabilities. The solution uses iSeries Kerberos technology to enable 5250 emulation and iSeries application access via TCP/IP within a secure environment. It provides synchronization of passwords between the iSeries and Windows servers, total administrative control over user configuration, software updates, and network-distributed changes.
BOSaNOVA also previewed Cross Run, a tool for deploying applications to thin clients. The wizards-based tool, available next month, lets administrators manage which users and terminals can access specific applications housed on a number of servers. The product supports Windows CE.NET, Windows XP, and Windows 2000. BOSaNOVA plans a Linux version for the fall. For a limited time, BOSaNOVA will give Cross Run for free to customers using its BOSaNOVA CE.NET Thin Client as an extension to the BOSmanager software. More > >;;
